How we approach
a deck project
KC Deck Builds is a locally owned, licensed and insured deck builder serving ten communities in Missouri and Kansas. Our core work is new decks, deck repairs and deck replacements, in wood or composite. We also resurface and expand existing decks, install railings and stairs as their own projects, build covered decks, screened porches, porches, low decks and gazebos, and repair or replace gazebos.
Most of what makes a deck safe is underneath it once it's finished: footings set below the frost line, beams and joists sized for their spans, and a ledger bolted to the house framing and flashed so water stays out of the wall. On an existing deck, those same parts decide whether it needs a repair, new boards or a full rebuild, which is why we look at the structure before recommending any of them.

Deck repair
Repairs to boards, framing, posts, railings and stairs on a deck worth keeping, with each fix aimed at the cause of the damage.

A full rebuild when the frame, footings or house connection have failed, built to current code and open to a new size or stair location.
